quite cool. i am always intrigued by techniques that are new to me. this is one that i fave for it's educational value as much as it's artistic value. thanks for producing a great pic.

np :)

I intend to have another go and see if I can bring even more detail out of it next time it's clear. Or even just try colour photos at different moon phases.

is this one image or did you stack several?

It's 5 images stacked to get the detail then one adjusted to bring out the colour and blended in colour mode.

I have wanted to try that for some time. It looks great! Keep up the good work.

I used registax to create the B&W/normal shot. The colour was taken from the sharpest shot processed from the raw and then the saturation ramped up. Adjusted the tones with H/S/L to get them a bit more natural subdued looking then I gave it a slight blur and set it in colour blend mode and adjusted the opacity to suit.

registax is great. I have not tried Raw mode yet. I have only had this camera for about a year and not much time with astro shots. I am still learning how to use it. I was still using film not long ago! lol

I just tried it first off with this moon shot, it's quite confusing at first but im pretty impressed with the detail it can pull out.

Now I just need a nice big expensive telescope :p

I used my 300mm f4L with a 2x teleconverter then processed it to get the colour into it.
